This morning’s OPF (Outbound Powered Flyby) burn put Orion on a trajectory for the next burn (Friday, November 25th) which will put the spacecraft into DRO (Distant Retrograde Orbit), a stable orbit around the moon, where it will stay for a week of testing and research.
Orion passed 130km (81 miles) above the Moon, travelling at 8211km/h (5,102 mph) while over 370,000km (230,000 miles) from earth.
A news conference will be held on NASA TV at 6pm AST.
